Snapdeal group's Unicommerce adds 121 big clients as profit rises to Rs 6.4 crore
The software behind many Indian online brands grew sales 15% in July to September, but costs grew faster. Here is what the company does, in plain words.
Picture this. You order a kurta from a brand's app at night. By morning, someone has already checked that the kurta is in stock, picked the right warehouse, chosen a courier and matched your payment. Most of that work is not done by a person with a notebook. For thousands of Indian brands, it is done by software from a company called Unicommerce.
On Friday, 23 October 2026, Unicommerce shared its results for July to September 2026. It added 121 new enterprise clients (big brands, not small sellers) in those three months and earned a profit of Rs 6.4 crore.
First, what does Unicommerce do?
Think of a busy kirana shop. The owner keeps a ledger of what is on the shelf, and plans which delivery boy takes which order. Now imagine that shop sells on ten apps at once, has five godowns and sends out thousands of parcels a day. A paper ledger would collapse. Unicommerce sells the digital version of that ledger and delivery planner.
Unicommerce is owned by Snapdeal, the online shopping company. It sells software as a service, or SaaS. That means brands do not buy the software once. They pay regularly to use it over the internet, a bit like a monthly phone recharge.
It has three main products:
- Uniware: keeps track of stock across many places, handles orders from online and offline shops, manages returns and matches payments with orders.
- Shipway: helps brands pick the best courier for each parcel, track it and handle returns, so shipping costs less.
- Convertway: a marketing tool that reaches shoppers through WhatsApp, SMS and AI voice calls.

Who uses it?
The company says it serves more than 8,500 clients in India, Southeast Asia and the Middle East. Names on its list include FabIndia, Lenskart, Mamaearth, boAt, Urban Company and Landmark Group.
The new clients this quarter include United Colors of Benetton, Macho, Furlenco, Pushp Masale, JK Maini by Raymond and Nish Hair. So the next time a parcel from one of these brands reaches your door, there is a good chance Uniware helped send it.
The numbers, in plain words
Revenue is all the money a company earns from selling its product, before paying any bills. Think of it as everything a lemonade stall collects in a day. Unicommerce's revenue for the quarter was Rs 59.1 crore, up 15% from Rs 51.4 crore a year earlier.
Profit is what is left after paying for everything: salaries, servers, rent and tax. That came to Rs 6.4 crore, up 10.6% from Rs 5.8 crore in the same three months of 2025. The company's own slides show that out of every Rs 100 of revenue, about Rs 10.8 was left as profit.
These are consolidated numbers. Consolidated means the parent company and the smaller companies it owns are counted together, like adding up the pocket money of all the siblings in one family.

Costs grew faster than sales
Here is the twist. Sales grew 15%, but costs grew faster. Total income, including Rs 1.56 crore of other income, was Rs 60.7 crore. Total expenses rose 18.9% to Rs 52.8 crore. Salary costs alone rose 23.4% to Rs 20.9 crore.
So the profit before tax stayed almost the same as last year, at about Rs 7.8 crore. Then why did the final profit rise? Because the tax bill was smaller. Tax fell to about Rs 1.4 crore from Rs 2 crore, helped by a tax credit. A tax credit is like a coupon that lowers the tax you owe.
The company says the extra spending was planned: more on product development, talent, sales and marketing. It expects this extra spending to slow down in October to March and its profit to improve.
Why 121 new clients matter
For a company like this, clients are like members of a gym. Each one pays again and again. So adding many big clients now means steady money later.
A year earlier, Unicommerce added 103 enterprise clients in the same quarter. This time it added 121. Its total count of enterprise clients on Uniware grew from 1,023 to 1,233, a rise of about 20.5%.
There is a second good sign. The top 10 clients now bring in only 10.5% of revenue, down from 15.1% a year ago. That means the company does not depend too much on a few big names. It is like a samosa stall that sells to the whole street, not just one office canteen.

Shipway and the new AI helper
Uniware's revenue grew 14.5% and Shipway's grew 15.7%. Shipway's yearly revenue run rate crossed Rs 100 crore. A run rate is a guess of a full year's sales if every month went like the recent ones, like saying "I save Rs 500 a month, so about Rs 6,000 a year".
The company also launched DNA, a second AI helper inside Uniware. It spots problems early and can trigger fixes on its own, the way a good shop manager notices a missing box before a customer complains.
Sales outside India now make up about 6% of Uniware revenue, double the roughly 3% at the time of its stock market listing in August 2024. The company says this part grows faster than the Indian business and makes a profit.
What the boss said
Managing Director and CEO Kapil Makhija said in the company's release that with incremental investments expected to moderate in the second half, "we anticipate improving profitability and operating leverage." In simple words: spending should slow down, so more of each rupee earned should turn into profit.
The company also says it is on track for 15% plus yearly revenue growth in Uniware and 20% plus in Shipway from January to March 2027. That is a goal, not a promise.
Why this matters to you
Online shopping looks simple on a phone screen. Behind it is a hidden world of stock lists, courier choices and payment checks. Companies like Unicommerce build that hidden plumbing. For students thinking about careers, it is a reminder that e-commerce is not only about the apps you see. Some of the steadiest businesses sit quietly in the back office.
