Delhivery carried 325 million parcels in three months, but kept just Rs 1.30 of every Rs 100
The parcel company crossed Rs 3,000 crore in quarterly revenue for the first time, yet fuel, trucks and wages ate almost all of it.
Think of every phone cover, pair of shoes and T-shirt ordered online in India between July and September. Delhivery, one of the companies that carries those boxes to your door, handled 325 million express parcels in those three months. That is about 35 lakh parcels a day, and 32% more than a year ago.
On Friday, 30 October 2026, Delhivery shared its results for July to September 2026. For the first time, its revenue in one quarter crossed Rs 3,000 crore. It reached Rs 3,066 crore, up 19.8% from Rs 2,559 crore a year earlier. It also made a net profit of about Rs 41 crore. Big revenue, small profit. Here is why, and why this matters for you.

Who is Delhivery, anyway?
Delhivery is an Indian logistics company. Logistics simply means moving goods from one place to another: picking up, storing, sorting and delivering. The company was started in 2011 in Delhi and is based in Gurgaon.
When you buy something on a shopping app, the seller often does not deliver it. The seller pays a company like Delhivery to do it. Delhivery says it works for over 59,000 clients, from big online shops to small sellers.
How does a parcel company make money?
Picture a samosa stall. The stall earns a little on every samosa. Delhivery earns a fee on every parcel it carries. More parcels means more money coming in.
Delhivery has two big ways of earning:
- Express parcels. These are the small boxes from online orders. This part earned Rs 1,961 crore, up 21.7% in the quarter.
- Part truckload, or PTL. Here, a business sends goods that fill only part of a truck, like a few cartons of paint or machine parts. Delhivery fills the rest of the truck with goods from other businesses, so each one pays only for its share of the space. PTL earned Rs 672 crore, up 23.1%, and carried 5.45 lakh tonnes of goods.
A quick sum: Rs 1,961 crore divided by 325 million parcels comes to roughly Rs 60 for each express parcel, on average.

So why is the profit so thin?
Because moving boxes is costly. The biggest bill is for freight, handling and servicing, which means trucks, fuel and the work of loading and unloading. This cost alone was Rs 2,195 crore, about 71% of all its spending. Staff costs were Rs 446 crore. Total spending was Rs 3,093 crore.
The company's own release says its profit margin was 1.3%. A profit margin is the share of each rupee earned that is left over as profit. So out of every Rs 100 that came in, Delhivery kept about Rs 1.30. Imagine selling Rs 100 worth of chai and keeping just enough for one small toffee.
The release also points to a tough year for costs: rising fuel prices, trouble finding enough workers and several new government rules.
From a loss to a profit
A year ago, in July to September 2025, Delhivery made a loss of Rs 50.5 crore. This time it made a profit of Rs 40.6 crore. Profit also rose 27.4% from Rs 31.9 crore in April to June 2026.
Part of the story is Ecom Express, another delivery company Delhivery bought. Joining two companies costs money: merging networks, systems and teams. Delhivery spent Rs 90 crore on this a year ago and nothing this quarter, Inc42 reports. Without that cost, last year's July to September quarter would have shown a profit of Rs 59 crore, the company said.

Are online sellers paying more per parcel?
Yes, a little. Delhivery earned more for each shipment. For express parcels this went up 4.1% compared with April to June, and for PTL it went up 5.6%, Inc42 reports. The main reasons were price increases linked to fuel, and changes to cover higher minimum wages for workers.
This matters for small sellers on shopping apps. When diesel costs more, the delivery fee they pay can go up too.
What the festive season looks like
Delhivery said its service levels heading into the festive season were the best the company has recorded. Delhivery also said October parcel volumes beat the company's own early expectations, Inc42 reports. The company called it an encouraging start to the October to December quarter.

Robots, AI and delivery work
Delhivery is spending on technology to cut costs. Its release says it wants to reduce dependence on labour inside its sorting centres, the big buildings where parcels are sorted by city and area. Its in-house automation unit has begun making self-driving vehicles that move goods inside these buildings.
Delhivery said AI tools have cut the cost of customer support and of checking proof of delivery by over 50%. It plans to put 100 of its own self-driving pallet movers to work by January to March 2027, Inc42 reports.
This matters for delivery work. Staff costs rose only 4.7% while parcels rose 32%, according to the figures in Entrackr and the company's release. More parcels were handled without staff costs rising at the same speed.
Deliveries within a city
Delhivery also runs Delhivery Local, which carries goods within one city, like a shop sending stock across town. It works in eight cities, including Delhi NCR, Bengaluru, Mumbai and Chennai. Its yearly revenue pace (the full-year total if the current speed carried on) has doubled from around Rs 100 crore to about Rs 200 crore in one quarter, Inc42 reports.
The company also has Rs 4,676 crore of cash in hand, according to its release.
The big picture
Every time India orders more online, companies like Delhivery get busier. But busy does not always mean rich. Fuel, wages and trucks eat up almost everything that comes in. This quarter, Delhivery showed it can grow and still keep a small slice as profit.
